December Update

Dear WVCAC,

The past two months at Princeton have been a whirlwind, with the holiday season in full swing and students cramming for midterms and papers. I am grateful that God has delivered me through the busyness, and that I have been able to grow in my faith along the way.

The fieldwork component of my internship has required much more of my time and energy that I initially expected. During November and December, I spent many hours preparing the Freshman Small Group study on Mark, as well as planning bonding activities for the freshmen. Such events included a baking party, a Thanksgiving dinner, and an ice skating trip to Rockefeller Center in New York City. In addition, I have been spearheading outreach efforts, like distributing a worship CD that Manna's praise team recorded and organizing a World AIDS Day awareness campaign at Princeton. On World AIDS Day, a group of students also went off-campus to New York to participate in a global reading of the names of children in Africa orphaned by the AIDS epidemic.

In addition to my fieldwork responsibilities as small group leader and outreach coordinator, I have been counseling and discipling a handful of students on a regular basis. This has posed many personal and spiritual challenges for me, but I believe that God has been using these opportunities to sanctify me, humble me, and refine my faith.

Besides fieldwork, I have been reading assigned books on biblical content and counseling for the education component of my internship. The latest book that I finished was "The Bible for Dummies," a very enjoyable and insightful guidebook to the Bible. Also, I have been continuously interviewing people and reading books and articles for my research paper on depression at Princeton.

Please continue to pray for God to help me be a good steward of my time. Please also pray for vision concerning my plans next year -- both personally and career-wise. I will keep WVCAC and especially the English ministry in my prayers.

Blessings,
Ellen
